Presidents Report

  • It is a very exciting time at Beleura Junior Football Club. The club is in a strong financial position and the players over all are having success on the ground. Seeing the players in the rooms full of smiles talking about their game is exactly why I took on the role of President. I must admit though that things are this good because of a great committee at Beleura. Their hard work behind the scenes often goes unnoticed and I would like to take this opportunity to say thank you to them and the are doing an awesome job. As a result of the hard work, starting in October the council plan to begin a $300,000 extension of our clubrooms. This means that when the 2012 season begins, the kids will have facilities that will be the envy of other clubs. It also means that parents will have more comfortable facilities to watch games and training sessions.
  • Glenn Mayne and I visited Bentons Square Shopping centre and presented the centre manager, Maree Abbott with a framed Beleura jumper in appreciation of their continued support of our club. Bentons Square has been a major sponsor of the club for some time now and their support has assisted the club to purchase new jumpers and training equipment. Also there on the day to witness the presentation was one of the senior managers from Fitzroys, the company that manages of the shopping complex.
  • The Ladies day was held in the clubrooms and made for a fantastic opportunity for mums of different teams to meet each other and create new friends. It involved having ten stalls inside the rooms where the ladies could buy things while enjoying a champagne. This event also raised money to assist the club.
  • The water bottles for each team have arrived. A total of 96 water bottles and 8 cages were purchased costing $1496.00 and will be distributed to the teams within a week. The money was raised for these by the ladies on the social committee so a very big thank you to them for their hard work. Also thank you to all those that attend our functions as your support is what allows BJFC to improve.
  • Two flood lights have now been purchased to add light to the oval during training. We will be adjusting them over the next week or two to ensure the best coverage. Eventually lights will be placed on all four poles but this will take some time as the cost, including underground wiring is approx. $5000 per pole. Better lighting means better conditions for the players to train, safer conditions and lots more Premiership flags.
