Season 2015

Hello parents,
As we approach the end of the 2014 football season the committee is now starting to prepare for 2015.   This has been a year of establishing some firm foundations on which to continue to build our strong club and as members we should all be very proud of what has been achieved.   Our most immediate focus is on securing as many of the Team Officials roles as possible.   Coaches, Team Managers and Trainers are vitally important roles and traditionally also the hardest to fill.   The committee is dedicated to having all of these positions filled BEFORE we embark on the 2015 season and ideally before the end of the year.   This gives us an opportunity to have people attend the necessary training and accreditation courses required to take on the roles.

Please consider taking on any one of these rewarding roles.   It gives you an incredible opportunity to engage with the club in a very worthwhile way, not to mention your own son or daughter.   The club will fund any of the necessary training you may need so there is no financial outlay to worry about.   All we need is your dedication and passion to help improve the football experience for the children of our community.   Please let us know if you are interested in taking on any of these roles (Executive Committee Cc'd).   Your interest will be kept confidential at your request and there is no obligation - we are merely seeking expressions of interest.   We hope to hear from you soon.

Also, very soon we will be announcing the date for our Annual General Meeting.   This is as opportunity for you to vote for people to fill the various positions required to keep the club growing in 2015.   A successful club needs the active input of as many members as possible so please consider standing for any of the positions on offer.   These positions are nominated appointments and will automatically entitle you to hold a seat on the General Committee.

A Positive Approach

Peter Schwab (AFL Director of Coaching)
"In junior sport even competitions are what we need to aspire to; grading junior football to me has always been the best way to go about trying to create an even competition. Any administrative concerns about the impact grading has on scheduling for a league needs to be overcome. Research will support that grading over non-grading leagues at junior levels reduces winning margins."

Paul Roos on Parent and Coach Responsibility.

Paul Roos recently spoke on issues regarding violence in Junior Football.
"One thing that really disappoints me, [is] as a parent and coach is, its my responsibility to make a safe playing environment for my players and my team needs to make a safe playing environment for the other players," "But there's too many coaches out there and too many parents who don't take that responsibility seriously."

Club Song

It's a grand old flag
It's a high flying flag
It's the emblem for me and for you
It's the emblem of the team we love
The team of the Red and the Blue

Every heart beats true
For the red and the blue
And we sing this song to you
Should old acquaintace be forgot
Keep your eye on the Red and the Blue
